The FSU Panama City STEM Institute promotes educational excellence by:

• Providing educators with professional skills and research-based practices that foster exemplary teaching and inspire meaningful learning in STEM disciplines
  
  
• Creating quality learning experiences for middle and high school students that inspire K-12 students to pursue STEM careers
  
  
• Establishing and maintaining vigorous regional partnerships with businesses, economic developers, chambers of commerce, workforce boards,educators and other STEM stakeholders
  

Although approved as an official Florida State University Institute in January, 2011, Florida State University Panama City has focused on STEM learning for several years. By having teachers interact with practicing STEM professionals and by sending those professionals into classrooms, FSU Panama City has gained STEM momentum. In addition the FSU Panama City STEM Institute works with its business partners to move teachers into summer work environments which gives the educator real-world experience in the work that STEM professionals do.

By bringing together the world of education and academics with the work world of STEM professionals, the FSU Panama City STEM Institute serves as a catalyst to pique STEM interest in the community, in the educational system and in the region.
